The Action Never Stops

The past two days have been filled with activities, waterfront fun, Gold Rush, fun and many firsts. All day we play together under the careful and watchful eye of our trained counselors and staff. If you were watching from above, you’d see a virtual beehive of non-stop action. Some may call it dizzying. BUT, if you stop and speak with a camper you’d get a perspective that cannot be matched from afar…or above.

You’d hear campers talking about their cabin-mates, friends. and counselors as if they’re members of their own family. The relationships campers develop with each other and their counselors in the time they are here can be described as nothing less than amazing. I know we have great facilities, buildings, and courts at Agawak but what matters most is the “WHO.”

The “WHO” refers to our friends and counselors.  As we begin day 5 tomorrow, we have watched the “newness” become a more comfortable routine. We are settling in and enjoying the frenetic pace….and also being careful to relax and recharge our batteries with Lazy Breakfast Sunday morning. And, we’re also taking advantage of the most important thing at Agawak….each other.

Camp is filled with experiences that campers look forward to and tomorrow morning it’s our first Lazy Breakfast. Campers will be able to wake up leisurely and snack on cold cereal and oatmeal until they are able to place their order for specialty pancakes from 8:30-9:30 a.m.  A movie will be showing in the lodge from 8:00-10:00 a.m. and campers & staff can come to breakfast in their pajamas.  Our morning will consist of a variety of clinics from archery, to skiing, to gymnastics to climbing the tango tower. Sunday mornings are special because it’s the only day campers can sleep in a bit and chill before clinics begin at 10:30a.m. Younger campers always “pop up” early and take full advantage of Lazy breakfast while older campers catch up on their sleep.

Tonight the rookies will enjoy a cabin campfire with s'mores while the rest of camp welcomes Camp Kawaga for an indoor social in Happy Camper Hall.

Sleep well parents….all is good here.
