Agalog

by:
Camp Director

Here are a few Agalog articles I'd like to share with you. When you read them you can see how creative and inspired the girls are while writing, surrounded by the beauty of our towering pines and the serenity of Blue Lake. All of the Agalog writings will be put together in one magazine at the end of the season for them to have throughout the year while they wait for camp to begin the following summer. Enjoy !!

Friendship is the reason why you get to be yourself. You get to do what you want, and not be bossed around. Friends are kind, honest funny and make you feel happy when are blue. You don’t have to be perfect -- all that matters is that you are you. Your friends don’t care if you come in last place in a contest or a race. They know that at least your tried your best.Even when you fail at something your friends think you are a winner.

Friends stick together like glue
The feel comfortable going coo-coo
They are side by side and in for a ride
On a roller-coaster, fun out in the sun
Hand in hand, swinging high
Burying each other in the sand
Cracking up on the beach
Sharing a juicy peach
What would I do without her by my side?
To me, she has never lied
Being with my best friend
Is all that I need

A friend is…
Fun to be around.
Really caring and respectful.
Involved in the commitment.
Nice and not mean
Excited to hang out together
Sensitive about your feelings
Knows to shut up when you want to talk
Happy to be around you
Someone who doesn’t break a promise
Someone who pats you on the back
and doesn’t talk behind your back
Do unto your friends as you would like them
To do unto you

I worry about the smallest things. Like when there is a storm I feel like it may flood my house. Sometime friends make fun of me because I’m scared of silly things. But this summer, my goal is to clear my mind and play all kinds of sports like basketball and tennis and not worry about anything.
The trees are shining once more
I’m in my cabin now
As happy as I can be
I used to be scared
But now I am free

What is home?  A place you live with your mom and dad. A place where you sleep every night? When I think of the word “home” it instantly gives me a picture in my head of a beautiful place. A place where you are welcomed from the start. A place where you beg to come back every year. A place that overall amazes you. That place is Agawak!

When I got to camp
Trees stood as tall as the Empire State Building
I knew I would be more homesick than ever
But after a few days, I knew
Camp would be my second home
Forever
Things here are so different from home
More than ever
And I thought I wouldn’t fit in
But after I met some friends
I knew my chances of not fitting in
Were slim

If you look inside
You’ll find a person
A different kind
If you look inside
You’ll see inside
Is where I’m truly me

Smile on,
