All smiles at Agawak

What an amazing and spirited last 24 hours it has been up north! The parade yesterday was absolutely amazing. I know we may be biased but the small town of Minocqua always seems to cheer and smile the loudest when our girls dance. The parade song this year was “Proud Mary” by Glee and included over 190 of our best dancers. Counselors Brittany C., Alexa B., Melanie P., and Dani S. always do a wonderful job of making sure the parade is a crowd pleaser as well as exciting for our campers. Let’s just say through the beautiful 85 degree weather, Agawak girls were rollin’ through the town with huge smiles on their faces. We ended the 4th of July by watching the Min-Aqua Bat Waterski show in town followed by fireworks. It was the perfect ending to an energized day.

At flagpole this morning the campers mentioned their excitement from yesterday but were excited to get back to the activities camp has. Camper of the day was first year PA Rachel Frebert all the way from Delaware. Rachel is a kind and positive spirit that we are lucky to have around camp. Steph Crowe was our counselor of the day and truly exuberates what we look for in our staff. She is patient, kind, and upbeat.

After breakfast we sent off 24 campers to the Porcupine Mountains camping trip. The campers’ ages range from 9 to 14 and will be enjoying the wilderness as well as some s’mores. The camping trip returns Thursday around noon and we cannot wait to hear all about their experiences.

The rest of the camp began a set of new activities they signed up for on Sunday. The morning weather allowed us to get through all of our morning activities, however, as the afternoon rolled in we had small thunderstorm which led the girls to practice for their Blue and White lip-syncs. No matter how many practices we have each campers is just as eager as the last. Blue and White is a tradition that is understood and loved by each and every camper.

We ended the night with Ducky’s famous spaghetti and meatballs and cookie bars. After dinner the girls were put to the test in the Blue and White Spelling Bee competition. Each camper was responsible for holding a letter as we conducted a competition on how to spell. You probably didn’t think your daughters were going to be put to the knowledge test at summer camp but don’t worry it’s still a crowd favorite. It was great to watch the older girls help the younger girls as well as encourage one another on how to spell words like debris, mosque, and even ambidextrous.

We truly can’t believe how fast this summer is flying by. Not a moment passes that we don’t laugh, smile, grow, and learn together here at camp. Camp is quiet as of right now as the girls are resting up for another AMAZING and full speed ahead day.

That’s all for now-

Smile on,

Megan and the Office girls
