Off And Running

What an incredible start to the summer! Campers are finally here and all arrived safely. Ten months of hard preparation goes into two months of fun and it’s all worth it when I see those BEAUTIFUL wide smiles. After a few days of heavy rain, sunny skies greeted campers. They barreled off the bus and immediately began hugging their friends and counselors tight. For the vast majority of our campers, yesterday was a LONG awaited homecoming. It sure is great to have everyone back!!

I’m happy to report, our first-time campers are already adjusting nicely. Yesterday afternoon, campers unpacked, tubed Blue Lake and completed swims tests. Our head cook, Ducky, served up spaghetti and some double chocolate chip cookies. After dinner, the mighty CIT’S (counselors in training) taught camp songs as the counselors squeezed in one finally staff show practice right after. Our EP (evening program) coordinators, Mollie Smetana and Blair Morris organized and lead a very successful Broadway themed staff show for all to enjoy. Well done ladies. It was one of the BEST I have seen!!

Today, camp will be buzzing as campers sign up for their activities and enjoy our amazing waterfront. The next several days campers will settle in and learn to work as a cabin team. I already see new friendships forming left and right. I’ve missed the constant chatter of voices echoing throughout camp and the closing of those old screen doors. Camp is once again alive!! I’m happy to have this time together with the greatest campers on earth and a staff that continues to impress me each and every day.
