Another Day of Smiles and Fun

This morning, skies overhead were blue at 7:25 with a temperature of 61°. A bright sunny camp day is in store for us. We have an Agapalooza theme day organized, which involves different stations including art and music.  After last night's crazy and wacky Food Olympics, where whipping cream, chocolate syrup, and colored sprinkles were flowing freely on human bodies, we're ready for more silly fun.

After hitting my snooze button twice, I popped out of bed, jumped into the shower and headed off to Paul Bunyan's restaurant to snatch up a few delicious donuts for 4 adventurous girls from cabin three who slept in the teepee last night.  They were anxious to tell me all about their evening. Rafael Winter from AZ summed it up best when she said, "It was awesome." Please go to the Camp Agawak Wilderness Trips Blog (under the Wilderness Trips tab), to check out amazing pictures from the teepee!

Gathered around the flag in pajamas, our loud "Hip Hip Hoorays" could be heard echoing through the woods for camper of the day, Shriya Kilaru and counselor of the day, Julia Turner.  A French toast breakfast was served and campers then headed to their cabins for inspection.

Yesterday we had a successful full day of activities. To me there's nothing better than watching an activity day unfold. The skills, confidence and memories being built on any given day will remain with campers way into adulthood. The best part of what I do is watching campers discover things about themselves they never know, uncovering a new skill and growing as individuals. The lessons taught at camp are endless. No matter how long you've been here, you are still discovering more about yourself and others. Learning never ceases and friendships never stop expanding. The support, genuine, caring and sense of community we have at Agawak is magical and unmatched.  It's no wonder campers and staff start singing that old familiar song "We don't want to go home"...whenever the word "home" is referenced.

Have a wonderful weekend. Don't worry about us here. We are having the time of our lives. Wish you could experience all the happiness here.

Smile on,
Mary and staff
