We are “off and running” literally! There is more energy and excitement here than imaginable. We are ready for another summer filled with laughter, echoing Blue and White cheers, endless memories and fun and wacky camp events like midnight movie. There’s truly something amazing and special about this place and you feel it when you step foot on Agawak ground. Every summer I look forward to the campers’ arrival but this summer more than ever I couldn’t wait for opening day.

It’s the little things that make Agawak special which lingers in your heart and mind all year long. It’s the bonds you make with your cabin-mates. It’s late night talks about things you can only share with your camp sisters. It’s the thrill of getting up on skis and fast tube rides. It’s the sound of wooden screen doors shutting at night and the constant chatter, which resonates throughout camp. It’s losing your voice during Blue and White. It’s the smell of Ducky’s Hobo Hash, late night campfires, smiling faces and friendships that will never die.

Some say the happiest place on earth is Disneyland. They are wrong - it’s Agawak and we get to live it all summer long. Today the bell rang to wake sleepy campers up at 8am. Camper of the day Molly Gold and counselor of the day Julia Spathis are both happy campers and thrilled to receive this special nomination. Ducky served up homemade pancakes and by this afternoon all campers will be signed up for their activities.  Once we finish unpacking, swim tests and incoming physicals we will be going full speed ahead and ready for the big Blue and White team assignments for all new campers this evening.  Our historic Blue and White program has lasted 96 years and it’s stronger than ever. The life lessons learned, the leadership and confidence it instills and the strong sense of sisterhood that can be found here is like no other.

We are a very happy camp right now. So parent’s at home relax. We have this thing covered.

The Buses Roll into Camp…!!!

Good Morning Families,

MP here.  Just had to fill you in.  I was in Chicago yesterday.  It was so nice seeing everyone at the buses.  I saw old campers, old friends, people I went to camp with, too!!!  Now their children are Agawak girls!  We got the buses rolling in record time.  A big thank you to all our parents and our staff.  Yesterday we started getting through our red tape, plus some tubing!!!  Our rookies settled in so quickly.   Ducky and his kitchen crew fed an entire camp for the first time this summer, our traditional spaghetti and meatballs, and man was it good.  Hardly any leftovers!!!

But the real highlight of the day, for me, was the staff show.  10-gallon hats off to Chloe Weiss, Alana Bercu, and Alice Brown.  The show was an SNL themed Agawak Night Live!   From the get go I was laughing out loud, and Suzi was crying.  She’s a crier folks.

Mary went to visit our rookie and a few younger cabins at bedtime, while Suzi and I popped into some of our older cabins.  Shockingly, many cabins had lights out early, while a few still had too much cabin energy!

Today, more tubing, some games, a bit more red tape, but here at Camp Agawak, we go FULL SPEED AHEAD…!!!!

Much more to come…..
