Dancing the night away!

Agawak was jamming on the beach last night with Kasper K a professional DJ from the Chicago area. Yes! We had a high energy 4th of July beach party with ourselves. It was AWESOME!!  Campers and staff danced on the lawn outside my office and splashed around in the water as the music made its way across the lake. It's was a chill night after a fun-filled day of activities. Campers took a quick break from the dance floor to watch some of our juniors perform the junior parade dance on the blacktop path near the beach. They performed to Wannabe by the Spice Girls. Ice cream treats were passed out and afterward, everyone headed back for more "hip-hop" dancing, pontoon boat rides and swimming.

When I see the girls laughing and having a blast I know they will remember these days fondly. It's true we live all year long for 2 months of summer. I know years from now the girls will still remember the moves to their Blue and White Lip Sync songs. They will forever be "haunted" by all those wonderful campfire songs and still crave Ducky's chocolate chip pancakes. When they look back most of their favorite memories will be the days they spent at Agawak. They will have an inexplicable bond with the friends they met here. Years later, they may still imagine hearing the silver wake up bell and one of their greatest accomplishments in life may be swimming across Blue Lake in the early hours of the morning. They will also have an insane amount of connections as adults and they will never forget the many life lessons learned at camp.

Tomorrow we will rise and shine for another full day of activities and campers will be practicing for our annual Blue and White Lip Sync performances. Together we are counting down the days to the 4th of July. Part of the day will be spent being a tourist in Minocqua. Over 100 campers will dance in the town's parade and enjoy the local ski and firework shows. It's a tradition that not only our girls look forward to but the entire town can't wait for the Agawak girls to start dancing in the street. Have a safe and happy 4th of July.
