Greetings from the Northwoods

As I wake up this morning, I immediately began thinking of the past 24 hours.  Things here seem to be moving at a break neck speed.  Yesterday, Timmy and I put the final touches on setting up the cabins that our International Staff will be staying in.  During pre-camp, all our staff is divided between 6 cabins.  While we were finishing putting all the bedding out, our outside professional cleaning group were also busy scrubbing and disinfecting each cabin, right down to each mattress!  This Friday, our International support staff (i.e., our kitchen staff) arrives, and gets to work putting the finishing touches on the kitchen.  Ducky was up here last weekend working, organizing, stocking, and finishing cleaning our kitchen.  Our office secretary the last 3 summers, Mary’s niece, Rachel, arrived yesterday, too.  We had lunch together as a group in the lodge, which was fun, and also a sign that we are getting bigger!  Thanks for all the yummy pizza and wings, Mary!

While some of the younger guys have been continuing their grooming of our grounds, the rest of us spent the afternoon down by the waterfront.  We’ve been waiting for a bit of warmer weather, and yesterday fit the bill.  Handy Andy and I spent a good amount of time putting in our swim lines and buoys, while the rest of the guys were installing a few dock sections for our sailing and paddle boarding.  I was so very pleasantly surprised how wonderful the water felt.  It WAS refreshing, but not in the bad way!  I was in the water for a LONG time, and it felt great!  Mary’s youngest, Josh, was even down in the swim area with a friend swimming away!

After the 5 o’clock hour, Andrew and Nick decided to get their first footing run in on Blue Lake, so I felt it necessary to ski, too.  You see, we are very conscious about testing out all areas of camp before all you campers arrive!  I have personally tested the tennis courts, tramps, bike paths and running paths, just to make sure they are working exactly perfect!  As they say, it’s a hard job, but someone’s got to do it!

We all hope everyone is doing well, and you are sharing our excitement over the upcoming summer.

We’ll chat soon….
