Happy Campers Are On The Loose

Our mid-afternoon Tango song, to ward off rain, must have worked its magic! We are tubing and swimming in Blue Lake.  The sound of laughter is everywhere. I’m on cloud nine.

Cabin pictures have been taken and will be posted later tonight if our site doesn't crash again.  We have many campers flying up to camp so some cabin pictures may not be taken until all our flyers arrive. Please do not panic if your daughter’s cabin group picture is not posted right away tonight. We will get them taken and up on our web as soon as each individual cabin group is complete with all of the campers.

I am happy to report that so far I haven’t seen any tears due to homesickness or cabin placements. I hope that continues but it wouldn’t be a typical camp season without some tears and some ups and downs. Everyone appears to be pumped up for the days ahead and the staff has been amazing. We stood together in the hot sun for a good 30 minutes singing camp songs before the buses finally rolled into camp. Hugs were flowing and the screams were ear piercing as everyone reunited with their camp friends.

Tonight it’s spaghetti, meatballs, bread sticks, peas and salad bar for dinner. The staff will be performing their opening staff show this evening.  Our staff show is a spoof on the reality show Real Housewives and is titled “The Real Counselors of Camp Agawak”.  It is certain to be a hysterical hit.  During the staff show, the counselors will be introducing and promoting their activities.

Due to our high user volume we have noticed our website experiencing some down time.  Our website providers are aware and currently working around the clock to resolve this issue.  Please be patient until we correct this problem.

The dinner bell just rang.  It’s time to head to the flagpole to raise the flag for the season.  Last year’s Counselor of the Year, Bridget Murphy and 2010’s Camper of the Year, Lily Cohen will raise the flag together.  Lily  is filling in for last year’s Camper of the Year, Spencer Weiss, who will be arriving late to camp.

We’re off to a stellar start.  Lots and lots of happy faces are roaming the camp grounds.
