Hip, Hip Hooray! It Was A Great Day!

Today we had a great start to our day!  We met at flagpole this morning and the chants started bright and early!  G-O-O-D  M-O-R-N-I-N-G good morning yeah, yeah  good morning woo!  We had our first birthday girl of the day all the way from Iowa, Ava R.  She will be walking around sporting a colorful birthday girl of the day hat and an adorable stuffed bunny rabbit with an Agawak t-shirt.  Our camper of the day today is Emma S.  She is an all around great camper who came to camp yesterday with a smile on her face and kindness in her heart!! Way to go, Emma!  Our campers of the day this year will get a smiley face lanyard with a badge that says they are Camper of the Day.  They can wear their special lanyard around camp and be recognized in a positive way.  Our counselor of the day hails all the way from Australia, Mel M.  She came to camp with loads of energy and an upbeat attitude. She draped herself in Aussie wear yesterday in time for her campers arrival.

For breakfast, we had Ducky’s delicious pancakes, turkey sausage links and lots of fresh fruit and cold cereal.  We are so excited for our second day of camp to get under way!  The girls were busy today singing up for their first rotation of activities which will start tomorrow. Remember to check out all our great pictures on the Smug Mug section of our media gallery.

Down at the ski docks this afternoon we had several rookies on the boom skiing. Our wonderful CITs and PAs taught a few Agawak songs to our new campers in the lodge.  At dinner campers kept asking me, “When will I find out if I’m Blue or White?”  Little did they know they were moments away from being Blue or White forever.  Veteran campers headed to the upper athletic field in secrecy.  First time campers followed 20 minutes later.  The upper athletic field was a sea of campers as team shirts were individually launched into the air for new campers to catch.  Quickly we transitioned down to the waterfront for the traditional “push in” of team captains.  We have a strong and enthusiastic troop of CITs.  As always it is difficult to select only two captains from each team.  Many of them deserve to be captains.  Regardless of whom the captains when they work as a unit and the most successful team is the one that utilizes the strength of all their teams CIT’s.  The team that cooperates the most usually scores more wins.  Marlee Neff and Emily Saturno on White & Sylvia Siegel and Angela Gutman on Blue took an exciting swim this evening.  The entire CIT group joined them to celebrate the opening night of B & W.  A major tug of war broke out on the beach with the White Team winning 2 out of 3 tugs.  Bella Maurer and Winter Rafel were selected as team mascots. They both were hosted high into the air as their respected teams cheered for them.  An old tradition has been restored.

All of you will be relieved to know our homesickness is minimal.  We have some very happy campers who are eager to start their first day of activities tomorrow morning.  I feel if I tell you things are going incredible smooth for the first full day of camp, I’ll be jinxing myself.  So, I’ll just let you know I can sleep well tonight knowing I have happy campers sleeping in their bunks with visions of Agawak dancing in their heads.

Stay tuned for more Agawak fun to come,
