Kindness Day

This morning we enjoyed bagels, bacon and mini cheese omelets before Kindness Day officially kicked off. Kindness Day-is an event highlighting the practice of intentional kindness and its effect on others and self. Agawak Kindness Day helps showcase the commitment we have to foster the core values of kindness, compassion, and care and integrate those values more fully into every aspect of our world.

We had 6 kindness stations set up for cabin groups to rotate through:

1. Inspirational Rocks: Each camper painted a rock and wrote an inspirational word or kindness symbol on their rock which will be added to our rock garden outside the office.

2. Storytelling "Kindness Pop Up" Tent: Mary read true stories about everyday people/children doing random acts of kindness and campers shared personal examples.

3. Letter Writing Booth:Campers wrote letters of thanks and appreciation to the HP police and first responders.

4. Kindness Sidewalk Chalk Messages: Each cabin was given a plot of asphalt and loads of sidewalk chalk to design their kindness message.

5. Counselor Coupon books: Campers united to create counselor coupon books in appreciation for all their hard work.

6. Kitchen & Maintenance Thank you notes: Campers wrote kind thank you notes to our support staff working in the kitchen and maintenance areas of camp.

The highlight of the afternoon was boat rides on Blue Lake, swimming and a Tough Mudder competition. Throw in a separate CIT Tough Mudder Race, a Lip-Sync and Olympic Day practice; it was a very full day.

Tomorrow we celebrate Olympic Day. Olympic Banners will be raised high and campers will compete in various games throughout the day. Which board game....Sorry, Monopoly, Clue or Candyland will take home the trophy? Stay tuned for updates.

Smile on and full speed ahead,

Mary
