Olympic Day 2011

Camp Director

Today camp was up bright and early as a handful of brave campers began the
journey of “swim the lake” at 7am this morning. When swimmers accomplished
this goal, they were greeted on shore with cheering counselors and mugs of hot
chocolate.

The rest of the camp woke up at 8am eager to start the day with Olympic Day
opening ceremonies. Olympic Day is when we break the camp into four different
teams and have inter camp competition. This year’s Olympic Day commissioners are
Dani S. and Jessica F. The theme for Olympic Day 2011 is boys camps! Timberlane,
Ojibwa, Kawaga, and Horseshoe are the teams and are led by two senior counselors,
one junior counselor, a senior camper, intermediate camper, and junior camper.

The captains for Kawaga are Amanda B., Michaella B., Kerry W., and camper captains
are Jaclyn S., Sara B., and Devyn M. The captains for Horseshoe are Hannah K.,
Rachel S. Madison L., and camper captains are Sarah L., Hannah S., and Ava S. The
captains for Timberlane are Nadine R., Melissa G., Karaline C., and camper captains
Jordan W., Meredith R., and Romy K. The captains for Ojibwa are Kobe A., Margaret
D., Alexa B., and camper captains Emily S., Taylor I., and Lauren Mass.

After opening ceremonies each division ran relays against one another, which led
straight to pasta bar - a favorite camp meal. The rest of the day was filled with
Olympic Day mini activities where campers competed against one another for their
Olympic Day teams. The weather was beautiful and the girls were chanting for their
teams all throughout the day.

The night ended with Big Games as the evening program. The girls were able to
compete in basketball, softball, and soccer against different teams for more Olympic
Day festivities.

Tomorrow the day will be filled with even more Olympic Day competition along
with score updates! We’ll keep you posted!

It’s sad to see this session come closer to an end! We are excited to see all of you and
to go full speed ahead into second session!!

Peace. Love. Agawak.
