A Sunday at Agawak

The line for Ducky’s famous chocolate chip, blueberry, strawberry and plain pancakes was out the door this morning as we celebrated our first lazy breakfast of second session. Campers arrived in pajamas still fresh from Midnight Movie and happily placed their pancake orders.

The rest of the morning was spent in open clinic areas. Karla our talented indoor cooking instructor taught campers how to make biscuits and homemade hummus. Kim Wasserburger, Tango Tower extraordinaire had our girls climbing and zipping all morning long to help them prepare for the climbing competition this coming week.

My wonderful husband, Bill Fuhrmann, and our amazing ski staff, spent the morning teaching many campers how to wakeboard. They were very happy campers and left the ski docks with smiles from ear to ear.  Campers also took advantage of our gymnastics clinic while many of our older campers took advantage of the opportunity to sleep in.

With blue skies above, the afternoon was spent tubing the calm waters of Blue Lake with cabin-mates and signing up for another round of activities which will begin Monday morning. As the bell rang for sign-up the chartered bus pulled in and we cheered the CIT’s and Boundary Water tripping staff as they stepped off the bus one by one. They had incredible weather compared to past summers and arrived back to camp in high spirits. The food may not have been the best and the bugs I’m sure they could have done without but what they overcame and learned about each other and themselves will be remembered long after the mosquito bites have vanished.

Tonight around the campfire we look forward to hearing all about their adventures, struggles and happiest memories through the songs they created while out on the trail.
