The Final Days of First Session

by:
Camp Director

This morning we woke up the camp around 8:30 for our last official day of first session activities. The camp chanted all throughout breakfast “We don’t want to go home” and we truly don’t want our camp family to part tomorrow. We had a very special birthday girl Jami Bloch who has been such a spirited and happy camper. It will be sad tomorrow as we will have to part with her as well as many other enthusiastic campers.

After breakfast we sent the girls back to their cabins to pack for home and clean their cabins for the visitors that will be coming this weekend. Remember parents we open the gates at 9:00am on Saturday for you to tour the camp. For the rest of the parents expecting their campers to come home tomorrow on the bus, we will be updating the website with the estimated time of arrival in the morning. Despite the camp family parting this weekend we still made sure all of our first session campers had a great last day of camp.

We had a full set of activities which allowed many of our first session campers to get in their last ski, snorkel, swim, and jog. There was little room for campers to get upset about leaving. We ended the day with our traditional last campfire and that’s when the true emotions of our campers were expressed. It is so special to see the relationships that have been formed between counselors and campers throughout the session through their singing, hugging, laughing, and dancing throughout campfire. Campfire girls were Isabelle Anderson, Chloe Levitz, Samantha Soloway, Michaella Baker, and Carolyn Egan. Each of them expressed the magic of camp and how special it is to them. Their love for camp was evident in their speeches and articulated how most of our camp family feels about this special place.

We are proud as an office staff of all of the first year campers as well as old campers who made it through this session. Thank you for sharing your daughters with us and letting us teach them what camp is all about. Every first session girl will leave with a little piece of Agawak in their hearts, and as for the second session girls we go full speed ahead!

Thanks again for an unbelievable first session,

Keep smiling on

Love,

Megan and Brittany
