Activity Galore

The next two days will be active as campers rotate through their selected activities.

Our dance class is working on a routine for the 4th of July parade and will be dancing down the main street of Minocqua to Kill the Lights by Jesse Glenn.

Campers in arts and crafts are working on Kumihimo braiding!! Indoor cooking is "fixn' up" fruit tarts and our rookies are taking flight on the tango tower and zip-line. Outdoor cooking is flipping campfire quesadillas and our fishing class has been busy "catching and releasing". Hip, hip horary Ainsley Shaw caught the first fish of the day.

Most of cabin 5, a few brave rookies and some intermediate campers will be heading out for an overnight tepee adventure with tripping staff Kenzi Johnson and Jenna Foster. Our tepee trips allow campers to be immersed in the beauty and peacefulness found in nature. These overnights provide our children the opportunity to slow down, self reflect and they bring us closer together. There's something magical about sitting around a warm campfire roasting Smore's.

Over the past several summers, I've tried to encouraged more campers to go out on camping and tepee trips. I'm noticing children today are uncomfortable being in nature more than ever before. I see children obsessed with technology and who are becoming nature deficient. They don't spend time in nature and have little appreciation for it. One thing I hope to instill in campers is a greater awareness for their natural world. This has to start at a young age. We try to encourage younger campers to become involved in camp's tripping program and I hope you'll support that effort.

Our big/little sister program is off to a nice start. The little ones certainly like hanging out with their "big sis" and have enjoyed tubing and a scavenger hunt with one another.

Last night staff and campers could be seen running up and down and all around camp as we played Gold Rush.  Campers searched high and low using maps and fake maps while steering clean of bandits as they hunted for the treasure filled with Agawak dollars. In the end, it was Cabin OW for the seniors and CW for the juniors who captured the treasure. Good team work!

The days are already flying by too quickly. We have tons of quality programming headed our way so stay tuned for more fun.
