Alum Visits and Camplified With Kawaga!

Today was a happy Saturday lazy breakfast topped with Ducky’s scrumptious blueberry, chocolate chip and strawberry homemade pancakes. Ducky flipped 560 flapjacks for hungry campers as polka music played in the kitchen and Another Cinderella Story hit the big screen in the lodge.

We assembled at flagpole at 10:30 AM and went into a Final Four opening ceremony practice. At lunch our wonderful alum (who are here for the weekend) serenaded us and introduced themselves, their team color and something about themselves. As alum announced their team colors, outrageous cheers rippled through the lodge. The entire camp joined our special alums in singing "Here We Are".  It warmed my heart seeing this older generation sharing a unique moment, which bridged the generation gap.  It was one of those moments that make you stop and smile and say, "life is great".

After lunch we announced our spectacular Camplified music social and waterfront day with Camp Kawaga. This led to the entire lodge singing, "Somewhere Over Blue Lake There Are Boys".  Kawaga arrived around 2:45 pm and spent the entire day rotating through a series of music stations mixed with some waterfront type games. Campers got to create their own Spin-Art, made music, practiced their DJ skills and made the most of every moment. We had an awesome, active day and will end the evening listening and dancing to 3 different bands.

When it's lights out tonight, we will all be exhausted. It was a day to remember and lots of fun was had with our Kawaga friends. I'm going to bed one exhausted, but happy camp director. Tomorrow begins our Final Four competition! Stay tuned for updates about the teams and events taking place.

Smile on,
Mary
