Another Beautiful Day

We have another beautiful, sun-shining day. Today's counselor of the day is Artemis. Artemis is a counselor who is always willing to take initiative, has a kind heart and always has the campers' interest before her own. We are lucky to have her as one of our staff members. Camper of the day today is Jami Bloch. Jami comes all the way from Florida and has demonstrated great friendship skills and enthusiasm around camp. She was jumping up and down when her name was called out at flagpole.

The PA's made it safely back from their camping trip. They had good weather, minus a shower one night. Some of the shining stars of the trip were Lauren Fowler, Rachel Freebert, Emily Small, Dia Chamovitz, Emily Freedman and Sam Soloway. The PA's did such a good job--in fact, they had to portage their canoes over 100 rods 4 TIMES! That is more difficult than the CIT trip to the Boundary Waters.

Today we had a fun filled, action packed day. In the morning the campers participated in Derby Day. Each cabin had $300 Agawak Dollars to bet. There were 4 counselors per event that they could bet on. If the counselor they bet on won the event, their money tripled. If the counselor got second place, their money doubled. If they got third place, their money stayed the same. And, of course, if they got fourth place they lost their money. The events the counselors competed in were setting a table, clearing a table, word puzzle, tennis serves, basketball shots, running "in one out one", archery, softball throw, crossing wakes skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding, blobbing, arm wrestling, dizzy lizzy, 3-legged race and balloon stomp. The counselors had such great attitudes and were laughing just as hard as the campers were.

During rest period we had an open waterfront where the campers got to play in the water and get some sun. This afternoon we have another new activity to Camp Agawak called: Extreme Make UNDER, CIT edition. Each cabin gets a CIT to make under. The whole camp congregated at campfire for the CIT's to do their initial "catwalk". The campers are currently making under their CIT's. The directions were to make them as ugly as they possibly can, create a special talent for their CIT and then the whole camp will meet back at campfire for the CIT's to strut their stuff made under.

Tonight is Blue and White Landmines....another Blue and White favorite. We are encouraging the girls to wear their sunscreen and drink lots of water. Tomorrow is another full day of activities followed by HALLOWEEN!

Keep checking the website for more pictures.
