Another fun day at Agawak!

Today the sun was shining and it was a picture-perfect day for kayakers, skiers and canoes to hit the lake. Bess and Hannah (in cabin one) were skiing with wide-opened smiles. Our KWAK radio station was pumping out music and campers were working on their radio scripts. Sailing class was setting sail across Blue Lake with Berk, Segal, Newmark, Anderson, Zerek, Abrams, Hughes and Kanter. Jogging class hit the trails outside camp and are preparing for the Aqua-rama 5k run and the Mary Mile. Our drama class has been working on a shortened version of Annie which will be performed in two weeks.Cheesy Eggs were flipping in outdoor cooking and the smell of chocolate filled the air outside of Cook-wood. Those chocolate brownies baking in the oven sure had my mouth watering. Luckily chicken slider sandwiches, pasta salad and a full salad bar for lunch was moments away.

Our afternoon was jammed packed with water and land sports galore. Practically every water sport is available to our campers: Swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddling, sailing, log rolling, waterskiing, and fishing.  Our campers take advantage of the lake every day and most campers take advantage of it multiple times per day. Many camps around the country have pools – but at Agawak it’s not necessary. Blue Lake is so clear – you could play cards at the bottom. While we love all the activities at camp – we particularly love the beauty and recreational opportunities Blue Lake affords all of us.

Our Tango Tower emphasis this session is not "what we accomplish on the tower" but rather becoming "who we want to be on the tower" and how to use our strengths throughout camp and in our lives.  Tonight, was our annual Casino Night where campers earned or lost Agawak dollars for their cabin. Various hors d'oeuvres and refreshments were served by counselors while campers laid down their bets. We danced up and down in Happy Camper Hall most of the night in-between the live action of various casino games.

Take a look around Agawak — there is never a dull moment here and it’s crazy to think how fast the first four weeks have gone by. But as we like to say at Agawak: The very best is yet to come!

Smile on,

Mary :))
