It's almost O-Day

We have had an insanely fun and fast few days! This morning, the girls were able to sleep in after a fun night at Midnight Movie. Everyone saw the same movie this time which was Brave. We started the day by announcing our camper of the day, Emily S., counselor of the day, Alissa W., BFC of the day was Emma Plattner, who is always nice to others.  We also gave a very happy birthday cheer to our birthday girl Skylar Prizant.

This morning, we had a lot of sleepy eyes this morning but they quickly perked up when they found out that today was Blue and White Tenathalon. Through this morning and afternoon, the girls competed in different activities such as dodge ball, nuk ‘em, kayak relays and more! At 4:00 the blue and white commissioners came into office to let us know that after all scores were tallied, we had a complete tie! As a fun way to break the tie, we had 3 CITs from each team compete in a kayak race. The girls used great teamwork and sportsmanship to complete the task. It was wonderful to see the entire camp cheering the girls on.

After a great day of blue and white, the campers had an “active” sign-up for activities. This allowed them to run around camp to sign-up for their activities. Tonight, we are all enjoying Ducky’s famous Friday pizza and I know the girls will all have full tummies when we are done! For our evening program tonight, campers and counselors will be preparing for Olympic Day which kicks off tomorrow morning. In honor of the 2012 Olympics, our teams will be: Australia, Jamaica, USA and the UK.

We only have a week before first session is over. Everyone here is shaking their heads wondering where first session went. Many campers have been asking me to stay full season which I guess is a good problem to have.

A much needed rain storm blew in quickly after dinner. It lasted about 20 minutes and cooled us down from today’s hot temperatures. Everyone will be able to sleep well tonight with cooler sleeping conditions.

Next Saturday we will open our gates at 9am for visiting day. Parents will be allowed to enter the camp grounds at 9am until 2pm. We will host a cookout near the mail lodge and hope parents join us for a relaxing day at camp.  Our CIT’s will be able to leave camp with their parents Friday evening for dinner and must be dropped back off at camp by 10:30pm.
We look forward to our last week together with our first session friends. We have much to accomplish these last several days. Have a wonderful weekend.

Smile on,
Mary
