Greeting from the beautiful Northwoods!

I hope this blog finds you all doing well and staying cool.  As for us, it has been HOT HOT HOT!!!  That’s ok, better than cold, rain and snow!  But even though it has been, well, quite warm, we have been blazing through the summer.  Yesterday was another full day of activities.  It seems as everyone is finding their respective groove.  Outdoor cooking has become one of the new surprise hits of the summer!  It has grown from 4 sign up periods to 6 in just one week.  They have been making breakfast-in-a-bag, homemade pizza pockets, caramel apples, banana boats, and much more crazy goodness, all over a campfire!  Makes me want to get out of my ski boat!  As for skiing, we only have a few more campers who are struggling with getting up on the ski rope, and we are continuing to use the boom to help them out.  Sunday we had a junior ski clinic, to help our youngest campers have extra time to progress to their next level.

Monday night was our weekly campfire (MY favorite evening program!).  It came at a perfect time, too, as we have been trying to get the girls to bed on a timely matter in order to be fully rested for the big day tomorrow!  The girls sang all of their traditional favorites, and 2 campers, Ava L. and then Rachel R.  sang for us, with Rachel’s song being an original composition!  Then Wes and I took the stage, with me busting out an oldie from when Erica H used to sing with me, and then Wes, being inspired by Rachel’s original, sang an original of his own.  Wes and I, who this summer will be going by the name, What if… may not be as inspiring as the campers, but we definitely are louder!  We had some wonderful words spoken by our campfire girls, and then off to bed.

Today we began by heading to the waterfront, after cabin cleanup of course!  We took the entire Intermediate division to the jumping tree, then the Seniors, while the Juniors got to go buzzing around the lake in our 3 MasterCrafts!  Faster!  Faster! is all I heard!   Safety-first girls!  After lunch we had more parade practice, the upcoming Olympic Day practice, and then finally some lip sync practice.  All before telling the girls about the big Social tonight.  As I type they are off getting ready to meet the boys from Ojibwa.

Tomorrow, is really what we are all looking forward to, so the girls will once again be put down a tad early, plus a little extra sleep, before we invade the town of Minocqua!  The stores!  The park! The parade! The cookout! The ski show! Fireworks!  WOW!  It truly is one of my favorite days of the entire year.

So until tomorrow, may your 4th be as fun and safe as ours!
