More Camp Fun

The weather is cloudy this morning but we are in full swing on Blue Lake.  Our star sailors in first period (Sami Marcus, Jessie Cohen, Samatha Sinder and Jenna Chapman) did a super job maneuvering their boats in the wind this morning.  Camp purchased two new sailing boats this spring which now completes our fleet of 8 boats.  It’s a beautiful sight seeing eight multicolored sails glide across the water.

Recently, Lauren R. and Avery S. got up on the rope for the first time. They were beaming from ear to ear. The other night we forgot to report results from Blue and White Balloon Launch. Water balloons were flying high above our athletic fields as campers, holding bed sheets, tried to catch balloons safely in the center of their sheets for points. We broke a pair of glasses in all the excitement but don’t worry mom they’re already fixed.  The White Team took home the win but only by three balloons.

This afternoon the sun came out and campers were eager to get into the water! Parade practiced the dance down the main path of camp and is ready for the big performance on Monday in the Minocqua Parade.  Tonight we will be celebrating two birthdays - Mackenzie A. and Tatum O.!  What better way to celebrate your birthday than a day on Blue Lake (and a cabin pizza party at night!). We also honored Eva S. as camper of the day and Jordan S. as counselor of the day.

Tonight after the campers eat a yummy lasagna dinner, they will play one of Agawak’s favorite evening programs: Gold Rush!! In the game counselors dress up as Indians, robbers and map sellers as the campers collect gold coins around camp and search for a hidden treasure. The object is to collect the largest amount of coins and turn them into the “bank” for Agawak dollars. The cabin who finds the hidden treasure will win tons of Agawak dollars. We will keep you posted as to which cabin discovers the fortune first!

For the first time ever Camp Agawak will be hosting an Alumni Day, Sunday, August 2nd 2011. Camp will be hosting the first 80 plus alumni who sign up for this very special day.  How long has it been since you’ve sung an Agawak song around a campfire or swam in Blue Lake?  Please email the camp office at fun@agawak.com if you’d like to be a part of this special day.

Our lovely PA’s arrive back at camp tomorrow afternoon. I’m anxious to hear all about their adventures. We’ll let you know when they have safely arrived back to camp. Recently, Cabin 3 experienced an overnight camping trip which they reported was heaps of fun. A Lot of s’mores were consumed by all.

Tomorrow is a half staff day and we will be in special programming to allow half of the staff to refresh and catch up on some well deserved rest. The staff has done a sensational job helping new campers transition into our camp community.  Please don’t forget to thank your daughter’s counselors when you get the opportunity. A positive word goes a long way and is appreciated.

I’m needed for a camper interview so I’m dashing off to the KWAK radio station.  Stay tuned for more camp fun.

Smile on,

Mary
