Revolution Day!!!

Hi from Camp Agawak!

Today, camp (and, by extension, the blog) has been taken over by counselors and campers, as the CIT’s have “kidnapped” our office and admin team, while the rest of us enjoy Revolution Day.  Staff woke campers up this morning directing them to Happy Camper Hall, with varied excuses from storm warning to lazy movie morning, where campers watched a video of the CIT’s abducting our admin staff for a rules-free day – Don’t tell Mary!

Campers relished in not having cabin cleanup, and spending an extremely beautiful day on the waterfront, swimming and blobbing and everything in between. With no bells to sound the schedule, and no servers in favor of cookouts, we really can’t complain!

After a lunch of finger foods – still no servers! – campers had a much needed extended rest period, before heading to the basketball courts for an old favorite – The Basketball Extravaganza! Maintenance boys played to the death in a five-on-five game of basketball, the old versus the new. While none of them could survive a round of Blue and White Big Games, the new guys came out on top after a sudden death shoot-out. Campers took to the sidelines to watch and cheer, with popcorn and snow cone treats. We also welcomed some familiar faces back to camp today, namely, Beth Grosky and Stephanie Becker! Our Agawak alum couldn’t dare miss out on Revolution Day, and we loved having them! After, camp had KWAK going full volume with Hannah Montana and Avril Lavigne blasting, while PA’s are the current Dunk Tank victims and staff joins their campers in blob wars and tramp games.

What they don’t know is that after burger cookout – this is easily the most stacked day of Agawak meals ever – PA’s will be leading their respective Blue & White teams in a brand new game called Balloon Battles. We’ve combined two games, Balloon Launch and Landmines, for tonight’s evening program. Campers will line the upper in groups of four, holding fitted sheets, while staff launches water balloons into the air for the campers to catch in their sheets. After all balloons have been caught, campers will start part two of our new game. Campers will be given a certain amount of balloons based on how many they caught in the launch section, and hide them in a sand field, where the other team will walk the field hoping not to pop any water balloons.

Needless to say, camp is going full speed ahead on Revolution Day – who ever needed the admin team? Of course, we’ll be happy to have them back tomorrow morning for another big day. And you didn’t hear it from me, but rumor around the salad bar is that tonight is Midnight Movie…. And counselors have gotten creative in this sessions’ reveal.

To a million more smiles on the shores of Blue Lake –

Julia
