The Beginning of Our 4th of July Celebrations!

Hip, Hip Hooray Taylor Warren was the camper of the day!  Danny Baez from Mexico was counselor of the day.  Ducky served up his delicious homemade pancakes for breakfast. The sun popped out and we went full speed ahead into morning activities. Today, we’ll put the final finishing touches on our 4th of July dance which will be preformed tomorrow in town at 4pm.  The entire camp will venture into Minocqua tomorrow to watch the 4th of July parade, enjoy a cookout together, hang out at the water-ski show and gaze at bright fireworks.

We are busy trying new things at camp and pushing one another to reach outside our comfort zones. Friendships are flourishing. If you stop and listen, you can hear laughter resonate throughout the camp. So many campers are supporting one another as they try new activities. In fact, Georgie S. skied all the way around the lake for her first. There were roars of screams and cheers as she finished.

The evening program tonight is “Songarama”. Each cabin takes a song and changes the lyrics. Most of them write songs about camp.  Then, they get on the stage of Happy Camper Hall and perform their songs for the entire camp.  This is a great cabin activity that gets the girls working together and it is always a lot of fun.  There were many laughs as the girls sang their songs.   We will announce the winners of Songarama tomorrow!

We are finishing the night with an early 4th of July celebration. It is fireworks “Agawak style”.   All of our male staff is currently out on the raft setting up a special firework display. Our seniors have the privilege of watching from the beach and our younger campers get a special elevated view from the front of the office.

Tomorrow is the 4th and our favorite holiday! It might be the only day where everyone shows up to Flagpole EARLY! Be on the lookout for our spirited and patriotic campers. Our lodge is all decorated with 4th of July surprises. From the statue of liberty, to cut outs of previous presidents to a very special Agawak banner, the kids will be full of excitement before breakfast is even over.

We hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July tomorrow.  Please remember that no one will be in the office tomorrow from 1pm until the end of the night.  Any calls and emails after 1pm July 4th will be returned on Saturday, July 5th.

Smile on and Happy 4th!
