Time Flies

This was the Blog that was supposed to go up Tuesday Morning.........

The days at camp fly by at warp speed. One minute I’m gathered around the flagpole singing “Hip Hip Hooray you’re the camper of the day and before I know it I’m reminding campers to head to the infirmary for evening medications.  Days go by quickly in general but at camp each day is a blink of the eye. We try to cherish each moment. Our time together is never enough.

Monday was a wet and humid day at camp. Rain came down slowly all day interrupting our normal activities. Rain is our friend at camp because it allows us to change gears.  Campers and staff spent the morning writing and creating individual cabin camp song for Song-a-rama. Each cabin had an equal amount of time to prepare and write a song, which was later, preformed in Happy Camper Hall.  Every song was unique but cabin 1, D and Oakwood stole the show winning Agawak dollars for their cabin. Later in the afternoon we laughed our way through Comedy Sports.

This morning was cool and brisk as we sang to Elle Mabon, camper of the day and headed to the lodge for bagels and scrambled eggs.  Skies were clear for a full day of activities. Ava Schulman, Cece Batt, Carly Braverman, and Ainsley Shaw were the fish catchers of the day.  Hannah Margulis and Ruby Rosenheck never looked back as they reach the top of the Tango Tower and felt the wind on their face as they soared down the zip-line.  Stephanie Paget, Bree Luckman and many others didn’t let the chilly air temperature stop them from skiing around the lake.  Blueberry muffins were baked and devoured in cooking class and the campers in jogging class are still trying to find the secret path to Camp Kawaga. We also said goodbye and hugged our PA group who headed off to Copper Falls on a camping trip.

Tonight we were rockn’ and rolling with Monster Entertainment on the basketball courts. Our creative and enthusiastic evening program coordinators organized a western style barn dance.  Denim and Agawak bandanas were everywhere.  Hay bails were used to decorate the area. Watermelon, corn bread, pudding cups and dancing all helped make the evening a gigantic success.

Throw in an annual visit from the health department with an A plus report card and it makes for a picture perfect day.  We are making special memories. Every day we continue to learn more about ourselves, one another and what we are capable of.

Smile on full speed ahead!
