Explore Wisconsin’s Northwoods
Welcome to the Agawak Wilderness Trips Program! All Agawak campers have the opportunity to not only spend a night in our on-site teepee, but those interested can sign up for various trips throughout the summer. Some of these ‘open-signup’ trips include: hiking at Copper Falls State Park, day trips to Crystal Lake, Raven Trail, and many more!
Outdoor Adventures at Agawak!
It’s crucial we teach children today an appreciation for the great outdoors and nature. Northern Wisconsin is a beautiful setting to enjoy all that the outdoors offer. Agawak campers are encouraged to sign up for one or more of our teepee outings located on our 275 acres.
Agawak campers can sign up for an overnight trip to our 22′ high teepee which sleeps up to 18 campers. Groups going to the teepee may consist of one whole cabin or a mix of various cabins which is super fun and inclusive. Our teepee is located on a remote area of the camp property and is the perfect setting to enjoy the peacefulness of nature with camp friends. Campers bring their sleeping bags, make yummy s’mores around an open fire, star gaze, share campfire stories and fall fast asleep to the sounds of crickets.
Our oldest CIT campers (counselors in training) are required to participate in a 6 day unforgettable Boundary Waters trip. Their adventure takes them to the breathtaking Boundary Waters at the edge of northern Minnesota on the border of Canada. Our 10th graders will pack out their gear and food and canoe for 6 days guided by experienced trip leaders. Campers will canoe, pitch tents, build fires, cook their own food and do so with “No Trace Left Behind”. Trip leaders have extensive trip guiding experience including backpacking, hiking, and open water guiding. Each group carries a satellite phone and will check in each day with the camp office. This is a once in a lifetime trip!
