Hello all from the lovely confines of the Agawak Office,

Yesterday was the second annual Agapalooza. The girls dressed up like they were going to a music festival in neon clothes and hip headbands! They went to a few stations to watch their friends perform songs and dances and took pictures like they were actually at the festival. Everyone got a chance to go tubing on beautiful Blue Lake during open waterfront. It was so fun to see everyone on the slide and blob for the first time this summer. There’s nothing like an open waterfront day on Blue Lake!

Last night we had our first social with our friends at Camp Horseshoe. The girls danced the night away and had a great time with Monster Entertainment! It’s always nice to see the girls running around with their brothers, school friends and new friends just dying to get in some photos! Also, Nicki Siegel proved to be the best dancer of the social and was awarded a JUMBO SIZED chair to place outside of her cabin!

This morning, we were sad to see our rookies leave, but boy did they have fun!  Poor Jaclyn was crying when they left!!!   But Sunday also brings in one of our camp favorite events-Lazy Breakfast! The girls were so excited to have their first batch of Ducky’s famous lazy Sunday pancakes! A few campers who woke up early were entertained as they watched Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and dove into their delicious pancakes! After pancake breakfast, we met at flagpole to announce the special morning programming: The great state of Agawak!  Each cabin created a town in the state of Agawak and got to make up a name for the town, motto, fight song, and elect a mayor and town statue for their idea. We were walking around camp watching all of the girls take it upon themselves to make up a state dance and song as well… when at Agawak! The seniors had some special privileged programming including some awesome tango tower training with the tango tower master Kim W. The tango tower has been a hit! It has been so cool watching girls of all ages climb all around like little squirrels and hang like monkeys and look completely natural!

So far it has been a beautiful day so far with the sun shining, though not as strong as the weather from the great waterfront day yesterday. We’re hoping the rain can hold off for today so that we can continue enjoying the outdoor activities planned for today. As we head off to lunch we’ll able to announce the camper of the day, Riley Sauer, and counselor of the day, Emma Sam. We’ll also sing our birthday cheer for the birthday girls today, Tatum Oblonsky and Mckenzie Abt.  Later tonight, we’ll have our first campfire of the summer.  We hope to have it outdoors, but the weather may say otherwise. Our campfire girls will be announced later this evening. They are chosen to make a speech as the only one of their age group because they have shown true Agawak spirit and kindness. Then tomorrow, we are back to full speed ahead with activities.  The first day the girls got their feet wet, both literally and figuratively.  Now with a full week ahead, it’ll be nice to see them progressing in their activities each day.  Plus, the parade girls will be busy practicing for their big day this Saturday, the July 4th parade straight down Hwy 51 through downtown Minocqua!  We are, by far, the biggest contingent in the parade.  When our girls dance, the entire town joins in!!!!  So what has it been, 4 full days?  Whew, we’ve packing the fun in.  Stay tuned for more…and more…and more!!!!

Campingly Yours,

The lovely ladies in the office ( and MP!)
