…A Silver Lining
Good evening everybody!
MP here and I hope this blog finds everybody in good spirits because in spite of all that’s been going on here this camp is! Just yesterday Mary addressed both the campers and staff and talked about how life doesn’t change just because we are at camp. LIFE still happens and we are not going to let it get us down. Camp will still move FULL SPEED AHEAD!!! And we are! The campers and staff both let out a big cheer when Mary spoke and today was a testament to the camp spirit in everyone. There are a group of girls from a couple cabins who we have housed in the Rec Hall as a precautionary measure along with two of their counselors. They have since named themselves The Reckies! I guess that’s their new “cabin” name. They have a count off and songs already! Anyway these ‘Reckies’ have been having a blast. Since they have to be isolated a bit we asked them to give us a wish list of things they’d like to do. Hmmm pizza party last night? Check. Skiing and tubing today? Well half a check. Tubing may have to wait till tomorrow but today we had girls double skiing who have never tried it before we had girls slaloming dropping a ski the whole works. And just to show that things must happen for a reason young Nicole Z. from cabin 10 who hasn’t made it up on the rope all summer actually she has only boomed and since has never even tried the rope asked me if she could try the rope today. Of course! I said. Well wouldn’t you know it BAM!!!! Right up she goes! And just for good measure she skied the entire loop without falling once! Yes I’m a firm believer that all things happen for a reason! Way to go Nicole!
Well while I was hosting a ski party for the Reckies the rest of camp was busy competing in the Final Four. Rachel Schlecter the FF commissioner told us that the competition has been very spirited. Lots of smiling faces all around. Today for the first time ever in the FF they were playing capture the flag. I could hear the screaming from the lake. Rachel said the competition was even more intense that the Blue/White capture the flag. Now that’s saying something! The winning capture the flag team was Xavier! And then the girls did an intense tugIT winning the tug! Whew! What an afternoon! This camp is going to get a seriously good nights sleep because tomorrow is one of the most anticipated days of the summer….GONZO!!!!
Yes parents and friends a little cough cannot dampen the spirits of the girls of Camp Agawak!
Stay in touch! Still LOTS of camp left….
