The past few days at Camp Agawak have been packed with warm weather, laughter and time in the water.
Sunday was all about slowing down and enjoying a classic lazy Sunday breakfast. Campers signed up for their favorite activities for the week ahead and took turns tubing with cabin mates on the lake—one of Agawak’s many water activities. There’s something undeniably special about Blue Lake—the heart of Camp Agawak. From the moment the sun rises over the pine trees and dances across its calm, crystal-clear waters. It’s where campers learn to waterski for the first time, share laughs on paddle boards, swim with friends by their side. and watch the sunset. There is constant movement on the shoreline all day long. We are so lucky to call this special place home.
Monday was picture-perfect for a full day of activities, and in the afternoon, we welcomed our C.I.T.s back from their Boundary Waters camping trip. They returned full of stories and smiles, and eager for camp life. The Boundary Waters trip pushes campers outside their comfort zones. This trip takes our girls far beyond the familiar rhythms of camp life—away from cabins, electricity, and routines—and place them in the heart of nature where teamwork, resilience, and self-discovery shine. For some campers, it’s their first time sleeping in tents, cooking over an open fire, or carrying everything they need on their backs. There are no mirrors, no phones, and no easy shortcuts—just fresh air, the steady rhythm of paddles in water, and the quiet beauty of untouched wilderness.
Learning to leave no trace behind teaches respect for nature and reminds us how powerful simple living can be. But even more powerful is the bonding that happens out there. Shared challenges, laughter around the fire, and the sense of accomplishment that comes from reaching the next portage or campsite brings them closer together. They return to camp stronger, braver, and more connected—with a new sense of pride in themselves and each other.
Tuesday brought another beautiful activity day and an evening program that had the whole camp buzzing—the Agawak Rodeo! With Vibe Entertainment at the helm, it was a night of music, dancing, smiles galore and unforgettable fun.
Wednesday was our much-anticipated town day! Even though the rain made an appearance, it didn’t stop our campers from shopping their way through Minocqua. While the Minocqua Bat Show was canceled due to rain, campers decided they wanted to watch….The Greatest Showman together inside Happy Camper Hall. This brought cozy movie-night vibes to camp. after a busy town day.
Thursday kicked off one of our most beloved camp traditions—Final Four! This year’s teams are Clemson, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt, and campers are already showing off their team spirit. We started the day with Opening Ceremonies and staff dodgeball, then jumped into an afternoon full of series games and an epic Capture the Flag for our evening program.
And we’re not done yet—tomorrow we’re gearing up for our famous Gonzo Relay. The energy at Agawak is absolutely electric! Good luck teams!
With a grateful heart,
Mary
