While every day is a day I love at Agawak full of spirit and jammed our typical schedule and organized out of camp adventures and provided a host of funp for our junior and intermediate campers. Wednesday marked another day of beautiful weather just perfect for a waterfront day.
In the morning the junior division was engaged in dodgeball trampediate cabin groups played each other in a rousing game of Nuke then took to Blue Lake in our mighty war canoes. For many it was their first time paddling and working together in our giant war canoes.
The CIT’s and the PA’s (Program Assistants) played a competitive yet fun game of softball down on the lower athletic field. It was so much fun to watch our two oldest age groups battle it out on the diamond. The CIT’s came out on top despite great efforts by the PA’s. Cabins D J and OW ventured out with our head trippers for a full day of white water rafting down the Menomonie River.
In the afternoon our thermometer reached a gorgeous 80 degrees under flawless skies. Most of our campers took to the waterfront to relish a beautiful waterfront afternoon. Campers were blobbing left and right the water slide was open for business and campers were rolling all over the Rockit! Our ski area had tubers lined up and KWAK music could be heard across Blue Lake. Counselors fired up our snowachine and campers were sliding down the giant slipnae Hall.
The CIT’s played football and swam in Torpy Park while the 7th graders enjoyed an afternoon at the local Lumber Jack Show. Cabins 15 and Y put on their white polo’s and skirts and jumped on the bus and headed north to Swift Nature for a croquet tournament. Maya Newmark and Claudia Siegel brought home a medal.
Dinner was Ducky’s traditional Wednesday cookpers of all mixed ages still had the energy to go on an overnight teepee trip. There under the supervision of senior tripping advisor Margie Gordon Schaye an Agawak alum the girls learn essential campores around the roaring fire.
I can’t believe we are full speed ahead already into our fifth week of camp. The transition between sessions has been seamless as our new campers and old campers are meshing as one Agawak family. I am blessed every day to watch their friendships blossom and to see your girls grow in countless ways.
