This past Sunday we had Olympic Day which the campers look forward to every summer! Every year there is a different theme for the 4 teams and this year it was an homage to Taylor Swift’s Era Tour. The teams were Fearless, Reputation, Lover, and Red. They started the day with opening ceremonies where each team performed a skit, song, and cheer representing each Taylor album. The day continued with running relays, staff dodgeball, and say-what karaoke where each team was split up into groups and they improved dances to different Taylor Swift songs, getting them into the Taylor spirit. We ended the fun with commando, an annual game representing the end to the Olympic Games. It’s a fun treasure hunt where the winners won ice cream! The Olympic Day champions ended up being Lover after a tough competition day.
On Monday we got back into the swing of things with a sunny activity day. The girls were back to Blue Lake skiing, swimming, and sailing around. The bake-off in cooking also started this week where groups of girls in our cooking activity have been coming up with their own creations to different recipes and the winners will be posted this upcoming Parent’s Weekend which our girls are very excited for. We ended a beautiful Monday with a social here at Agawak with Menominee. The girls danced the night away as they enjoyed their brownies while mingling with the Menominee campers.
We started off early this Tuesday morning with the lake swim! Ally Shapiro finished the swim first, completing the entire swim in only 18 minutes! Autumn Debroux was the first camper to finish and we are so proud of her. The girls finished the swim with some hot chocolate before heading to breakfast to have some oatmeal, granola, mixed berries and donuts. Yum! We had another great and sunny activity day after that and the girls were so happy to be playing Gaga, shooting arrows at archery, and all the fun water activities! We finished the day with a lip-sync practice to get ready for the biggest blue and white game of the session.
On Wednesday we had a great day with lots of tubing and swimming! This session has flown by and we are so sad to see our first session girls go. In the afternoon after eating chicken nuggets and fries, the girls got ready for lip-syncs! They practiced their dances for the last time and got their costumes together. The night ended with amazing lip-syncs put together by our awesome CITs. The girls had so much fun in what they call their “best night of camp ever.” We are so proud of all of them and it was so much fun watching them dance their hearts out for their blue and white teams.
Today was a fun filled day of activities and Blue Lake was buzzing! With the sun shining, it was so beautiful to see the paddle boarders and sailors out. We are having our last campfire of first session tonight and sadly will see our first session campers will be leaving us tomorrow and Saturday. Hopefully they will go home and tell their families lots of great Agawak stories and start the countdown for next summer.
