Good Evening everyone…
As I sit down in my cabin after a very long day I am reflecting on how fast the 1st session has gone by. I know I may say this every year but it just keeps getting truer. I guess age has something to do with it and I also think that the things you love the things that dreams are made of just pass by faster than the everyday motions of life. Everyone who comes to camp counts down the days till we all get together and then when it’s over wonders why these 3 weeks just seem to move faster than the other 48. I’ve been up here for just over 2 months and it seems like 2 weeks. To try and reflect on a speeding bullet is a very hard thing to do so maybe I’ll just reflect on the past 24 hours…
Last night was Lip Sync as I know you have all read about but after that two cabins 13 and 14 spent the night in the Teepee. Those are 2 of our youngest cabins and it’s so wonderful to get them outside and camping. I know its baby steps but steps nonetheless. We also spent our last full day together going full speed ahead with a full day of activities plus some Agawak auction prizes being awarded. Some cabins had an extra day of tubing some a special lunch whatever they were lucky enough to win. It was another gorgeous day on Blue Lake so it was kind of nice that our last day was so special which was routine for us so far this summer! Yes it has been a wonderful summer indeed.
As the evening rolled around we all gathered by the campfire for singing and laughing some guitar playing by yours truly and camper Rachel R who has been serenading us all summer. Campers Molly L. and Romy K. also sang for us. It’s so nice how the campfire gets so quiet when these girls sing! We all hang on every word and note. Our campfire girls were Jr. Molly Fisher Int. Rachel Totz and Sr. Meredith Leon. Our JC1 was Samantha Bernsen and our SC1 was Jenna Spathis. They were all wonderful in their own way describing what they were thankful for and what camp has meant to them. I do love a good key log ceremony!
Tomorrow we wake up early to say goodbye to our 1st session campers. We will all be sad to see them go and we look forward to seeing them again next year. We all know 2nd session will be great but this is time for reflection and the first half of Summer ’12 has given us truckloads of that…
I hope you are all doing well…
