Blog from the CIT’s

Hey everybody it’s the CIT’s. We are in the middle of planning Blue and White Closings and the start of Final Four but we thought we would take a break to let you know what has been going on at camp. Since camp has been extremely busy lately the office allowed us to sleep in till 9. We headed to flag pole where the camper counselor and BFF of the day were announced. Today’s camper of the day was Julia Paull counselor of the day was Karaline Cohen and the BFF of the day was our very own Dia Chaimovitz. After flagpole we had a delicious breakfast of oatmeal. The morning consisted of a very thorough cabin cleanup and Blue and White team closing practice. All the CIT’s have been spending hours on our closings and we cannot wait to show the commissioners and rest of camp all of our hard work. The bell rang at 1 for lunch and it was a camp favorite grilled cheese and tomato soup.

During these past couple of weeks the CIT’s have been planning and setting up for our CIT program: Finding the Thief Gossip Girl edition. Our program was announced today at the end of lunch when to everyone’s surprise Gossip Girl (Melanie Pascal) came onto the microphone and informed the campers that somebody stole Ducky’s secret dessert recipe book. In order to get the recipe book back the campers with the help of Gossip Girl needed to figure out who the thief was or there would be no dessert for the rest of the summer. Cabin’s were paired with their sister cabins dressed up together and met at flagpole for the game to begin. To start each team got a Gossip Girl “blast” with a riddle on it. The answer to the riddles would lead them to different stations. At each station there were different tasks that had to be completed in order for the team to receive their next “blast.” Along with the blasts that were given each team was given a puzzle piece. Some examples of tasks that needed to be completed were games such as the human knot dunking a CIT or knockout. Once all 14 stations were completed the team had to put the puzzle pieces together to figure out where to go next. The puzzle then told the teams to go to the jumping tree. The first team that figured out the puzzle and got to the pontoon boat first won the game. They then got to take a boat ride to the jumping tree to figure out who the thief was. In the end we had a tie. Sister cabins 14 and B along with 11 and 8 finished their stations first and took home the prize of 1000 Agawak dollars for their cabins. The idea was then to have them all go on the pontoon boat to discover who the thief was. Unfortunately the pontoon boat caused a couple of problems for us. First we realized the pontoon boat could only take 10 girls at the most. Then as luck would have it the pontoon boat wouldn’t start. It ended up being okay because the whole camp met up at the picnic tables to eat and decorate cookies. It was there where we announced the thief Brownie James. It seemed as though everybody had a great time. We had a lot of fun creating the game. After the game we had a short free period where cabin’s could hang out and relax until we had dinner which was spaghetti and meatballs. Evening program was a Final Four openings practice to prepare for the games to start tomorrow.

Camp has been flying by and all the CIT’s cannot believe that in one short week we will be home and no longer campers. Camp is such an amazing place and we couldn’t imagine our summer without it. This summer has been the best summer yet and we cannot wait for all of the fun programs to come in the next week.
