First Day!

Camp Director

Tuesday was a smooth sailing kind of day as campers hit the shores of Blue Lake, finished some remaining “red tape” and signed up for their first series of activities. We woke up and assembled at the flagpole and sang our hip, hip hoorays of the day to Ava Reed, Lily Laufenberg and Maya Rudman.

All our first-year campers met their “ big sisters” and enjoyed a scavenger hunt which took them to various locations throughout camp. Cabins D, J, 15 and Y played several rounds of dodgeball while our rookie campers got a taste of gymnastics, candle making, gaga ball and also witnessed a deer swimming its way across Blue Lake. I was told an eagle swooped down near them while enjoying a relaxing pontoon boat ride.

Our mighty CIT’s met with myself and their CIT Director, Toni Hults for a leadership training session before lunch. They were given their CIT cabins for first session and are excited for their new set of responsibilities. They are a wonderful group of young ladies and we expect great things out of them. After dinner veteran campers walked to happy camper hall and watched with anticipation as first-time campers were placed on their blue and white teams. Invisible blue and white face paint and a black light were creatively used to reveal each campers team. Around 8 pm the entire camp headed to the waterfront to watch team captains Berk, Greenberg, Dyner and Kessel get tossed into the lake followed by the remaining CIT crew. Together they will ALL lead our 97th summer of Blue and White. This is an incredible sisterhood which cannot be found anywhere else. The life lessons they learn and grow from while here will remain with them forever. After a few rounds of tug of war campers called it a day and scooted off to the snack shack and showers before lights out.
