It’s an exciting day in Agawak history. Our virtual tour was successfully launched this morning. Campers alumni parents prospective campers and their families can now visit our website and click on the virtual icon to get an insider’s view of the camp grounds. Please take the time to check out this wonderful new tool and spread the word to your friends and family. I’m hoping this virtual tour will be helpful to families who aren’t able to visit camp. Agawak is such a beautiful camp and I wanted to share a little of it with those especially far away who aren’t able to tour camp. Hopefully this virtual tour will show others some of the quality and splendor of Agawak. Let me know what you think.
We have been very busy here since the buses pulled out of camp. I have Brandon already hard at work building a Gae? Gae begins with someone throwing the gae can be played by groups teams or individually. Get ready to play some Gamer. To see the game actually played you can “youtube” it.
Every summer after camp is over we open our gates to many post camp families. Some have been attending for 40 plus years. Last summer during post camp week I was able to sit down with several of our alumni to discuss Agawak’s upcoming Alumni Reunion. More information will be posted on our website the next month or two. Please mark your calendars. The dates of the 2013 Alumni Reunion will be August 16th through August 19th. Our last reunion was a huge success. The furthest person came all the way from England to attend. If you are an Agawak Alumni (former camper or staff) and over the age of 24 please plan on revisiting your old playground where fond memories still linger in your soul. For those of you that have an account on our website please go into your profile and confirm all the information is correct. Your email address is very important as this will be the main source of communication between camp and alumni regarding reunion information. Also please make sure that your “role” states ALUMNI. If you have not yet created an account you should we don’t want to miss anyone! FYI ail with “Announcement” in the subject field we do NOT have your correct email address.
Priority registration is now over. Becker and I will be visiting new campers in the weeks and months to follow. As always we will have some new surprises awaiting you next summer. One of them will be a new location for indoor cooking. Melissa Granick will be happy to know I am bringing indoor cooking closer to the lodge so they no longer have to lug supplies up the hill to LHOP. Can you guess where I’m going to put it? Brandon was even shocked when I told him where this new cooking building was going. I guess you’ll just have to wait until next summer to see where it goes or you could come and visit me this winter? As for LHOP…….I have plans for that too but I’m keeping that one a complete secret.
Let the office know what’s happening in your world. If you have news to share or pictures of get to fun@agawak.com. I’ll post them on the media gallery if the quality is good. I hope everyone is happy and healthy. For my high school campers….enjoy homecoming in a safe and healthy way. If you were here last week you would have witnessed toilet paper hanging in the camp trees surrounding my house the roads leading into camp and the camp mailbox. Obviously traditions in high school haven’t changed much over the years.
Fall is definitely in the air. Vivid reds bright oranges and soft yellows have replaced dark green tree tops. Blue Lake and Agawak Road are lined with a beautiful pallet of fall colors. Blankets of pine needles cover the walkways and camp stairs. Camp lies in slumber until it is awaken with fun and laughter next summer. Enjoy the crisp fall days ahead.
Missing all of you
