As the sun dipped behind the tall pines, a wave of happy campers came bursting from their cabins in the most outrageous, creative, and downright ridiculous costumes you could imagine. Feather boas, wigs, oversized sunglasses, cowboy hats, fairy wings—nothing was off-limits.
Campers looked like a cast of characters from every genre imaginable, and it was absolutely glorious to witness. The mystery? Where are the stolen Agawak Jibbetz? The game? Nancy Drew—a beloved Agawak tradition where cabins work together to solve a camp-wide mystery, racing to uncover clues that eventually led to the ultimate prize: the coveted wooden treasure chest, packed with oodles of Agawak Dollars. Close behind was Cabin X but it was the CIT’s who finished out front. Whether they found the treasure or not, campers walked away with fun memories, cabin bonds strengthened, and a few costume pieces scattered around camp.
I watched as cabin groups ran all around the grounds, some whispering, some shouting with excitement as they interrogated staff for clues. The energy was electric, the laughs were non-stop, and the teamwork on display was inspiring. It was one of those nights where laughter filled the air—pure fun, pure joy, and pure Agawak.
After a full day of swimming, skiing, arts & crafts, tennis, basketball, gymnastics and so much more, this final burst of evening excitement had everyone clocking in tons of steps—and just as many smiles. Needless to say, Agawak campers will be sleeping well tonight. Tired legs, happy hearts….that’s the Agawak way.
Smile on until the next adventure unfolds,
Mary
