Another glorious day.

Today was a glorious activity day. Campers were making pudgy pie’s in outdoor cooking while some were practicing their dance moves for our annual Fourth of July parade down the main street of Minocqua.  This summer our girls will be dancing to “Party in the USA” by Miley Ray Cyrus. Campers who are celebrating a decade of Agawak summers will be on the fire truck next Wednesday to celebrate their many summers at camp. It’s a tradition they can’t wait to be a part of.

Emma in cabin 5 hit the bullseye in riflery today for the first time. Woo hoo! Summer from cabin Birchwood aimed and hit the bullseye 5 out of 5 tries. Bravo!!   Up in arts and crafts they have been working hard on mosaic projects.  Today the focus was water color creations. Thursday and Friday they will switch gears and begin painting with acrylics. Our water skiing and sailing instructors have had many eager campers wanting to learn and perfect their skills. Our campers are truly learning a lot.

Our PAs (campers entering 10 grade) returned from their Porcupine Mountain Trip. They dipped their toes in Lake Superior, built camp fires with little guidance, hiked some long trails and saw a few beautiful waterfalls. The thing they enjoyed the most, I think, was the camaraderie they shared amongst their age group.  They arrived back to camp with a few good stories and a few more special friendships were formed.

Another tepee trip headed out this evening and Margie has morning donuts for all tucked in her back pack . Our evening program coordinators, Mollie and Blair, had us jumping up-and-down and all around on the stage of Happy Camper Hall this evening as campers participated in a fun evening program called Encore. Cabins danced and Lip-synced songs selected from past blue and white encore lip-sync performances. Each cabin preformed an old encore lip-sync. Happy Camper Hall was rockin’ when the curtain went up!!

Tomorrow, campers will enjoy an active waterfront day and participate in a game called Search Party!!  The days are already going by too quickly. Every time we sing, “We don’t want to go home”,  I’m unfortunately reminded that we only have so many days to laugh together, to discover ourselves more fully and to grow our friendships deeper and wider. It’s been a terrific day and there is so much more to come. Stay tuned!!
