We woke early Thursday morning and rushed through breakfast in order to complete the Gonzo Relay as the sky was turning dark. All teams were looking strong in this sixty-seven relay event until rain swooped in causing a major rain delay. Reluctantly, we switch gears and our ninth graders put on a smile, dressed up for their campers and we headed to Happy Camper Hall for a goofy PA Pagent.  Casey Hughes and Isabelle Anderson took the show as Dora and Diego but an enormous effort was put forth by all. A big thank you to Spencer for organizing this fun afternoon!

Rain continued to pour down all afternoon so we took things in doors for a mixture of Comedy Sports, The Best and Song Scategories. Our junior, intermediate and senior divisions rotated through the afternoon from the lodge, to Alumnae hall to Happy Camper Hall.  If you ask campers, rainy days are some of the best days at camp. They can actually slow down a little and relax with their cabin mates. Rain sometimes gets a bad rap but not at camp. The inconvenience factor is obvious but it does gives us a chance to change up our programming.  Campers welcome the opportunity to slow down and play favorites from our big binder of rainy day activities.

After a chicken fajita dinner, we squeezed in a closing Blue and White practice before snuggling up to a classic Parent Trap movie. The entire camp was huddled together in Happy Camper Hall and We got a much-needed good night’s rest last night and are waiting for the sun to pop out so we can finish the famous Gonzo Relay.  A few lucky campers will get to kiss the giant moose hanging in the office porch. It's an odd tradition but never the less it’s one we look forward to. The Gonzo Relay is a gigantic relay where campers run, swim, blob, bike, set tables, sing in the shower, portage canoes, fold t-shirts, pound nails, serve volleyballs and tons of other wacky events. Typically, the Gonzo Relay takes 2 1/2 hours and will end with campers swimming from the raft to the beach to ring the silver bell. The first team to ring the historic Silver bell is declared the winner.

Ducky and the kitchen staff served up McDucky Egg sandwiches and oatmeal for breakfast and will be fixin’ up camps favorite pasta salad (Edamame citrus power salad) with shredded barbeque chicken sandwiches for lunch. The lake swim was rescheduled due to overcast skies and a drop-in temperature. We will shoot for swimming the lake Monday morning weather permitting.

Enjoy the peace and quiet. Soon your camper will be home and your house will be filled with camp stories, dirty camp laundry, a little Agawak sand and a very happy camper or two!

Smile on,

Mary
