Our campers are finally here. What an incredible opening day it was. Everyone arrived safely and met their counselors and cabin-mates. We jumped right into Blue Lake for swim tests and tubing. I can tell by all the Agawak smiles around camp that summer 2024 is starting off on the right foot. 

Excitement, energy and friendship could be seen in the crashing of hugs and screams of laughter. Our returning campers are back at their happy place while new campers are quickly discovering what makes Agawak so unique and special.
 

Our kitchen served up a tasty spaghetti dinner with garlic bread which is a tradition on the first night of camp. Returning evening program directors (Elle, Riley and Maya) organized a fun staff show composed of songs and skits along with an all staff video full of silly staff welcome messages. There's nothing better than watching counselors clown around on stage. It gives our campers permission to do the same. 

Today was the smoothest opening day I can recall in a very long time. I attribute this to our caring and genuine staff who continue to impress me every single day.  They were ready and eager for campers to "roll off the buses" this afternoon. 

Like any summer there will be twists and turns but the greatest part is we get to experience it together as part of a camp community. It's been an amazing and easy first day. Camp is quiet and still. It's time to get some sleep.
