Tuesday morning a bright sunny day greeted us after a heavy night of rainfall. Despite the rain, the enthusiasm among campers and counselors remains unshaken. After an oatmeal breakfast it was cabin clean up and then off to morning activities. Campers in dance class are learning their moves for the 4th of July parade. This year they will be performing down the main street of Minocqua to the song...I wanna dance with somebody. Parade shirts were ordered last week and arrive this Friday. Many first year campers have gotten up on skies for the first time. Even a few veteran campers finally accomplished their goal of getting up on skies. Persistence does pay off. The look on a campers face when they accomplish something they set out to do is priceless. 

During the evening program campers hunted for counselors hiding all around camp. Each cabin group searched for as many counselors as they could find in the time allotted. Campers explored every nook and cranny of camp until the bell rang to end the game. Four counselors were never found. They were finally summoned out of their hiding spots for an important announcement at the lakefront.  Once the entire camp was present, several of our office team, disguised as Inside Out 2 characters, stepped out of the office and waived hello. After introductions were made Jacob, who was dressed up as the emotion Sad, took the microphone and announced it was midnight movie. Screams and cheers echoed across Blue Lake. Campers shouting “Midnight Movie” quickly ran to their cabins, showered, put on their pajamas, and waited for the buses to roll in. Every summer for the past twenty five years we’ve been renting out the entire Lakeland Movie Theater for Midnight Movie. Going to the movie theater after it closes, in your pajama’s, late at night isn’t something you often do at home but at Agawak.... it's a fun and silly tradition. 

On Wednesday, we celebrated everyone’s birthday including the Rogic twins. Campers were split into groups based on the month they were born. Each birthday month wrote a song which they performed on the upper athletic field. Some fun and crazy outfits were seen by all. The birthday celebration continued well into the afternoon with waterfront fun, a foam party and a yummy cotton candy and ice cream station. We closed out our tenth day of camp with a social with our friends at Camp Ojibwa. 

Tomorrow we will rise and shine to enjoy another full day of activities.  The camper smiles you see in posted pictures reflect their happiness but also their excitement for the weeks ahead, filled with days of swimming in Blue Lake, camp friends, evenings under the stars at Sunday campfires, and days spent mastering new skills from sailing to ceramics. Here, in the heart of Wisconsin's Northwoods, our summer together is another summer of endless possibilities and cherished memories waiting to be made.
