Another Great Day at Agawak

Outside my window the parade class is learning the dance for the 4th of July parade. Campers will be parading down the streets of Minocqua to the song, I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY in eight short days.  Dance instructors have designed a hip and patriotic 4th of July tank which will be worn by the entire group of dancers during the parade.  I see heaps of smiling faces waving their hands as they practice a chorus kick-line down the path leading to the waterfront. Music is blaring, campers are singing as they dance and the sun is shining. Alexa Boorstein, Ryan Loeb, Jessi Morris and Hannah Levitz are doing a super job working with a very large group of rookie and veteran parade dancers.

Our fishing classes have been pulling in heaps of fish.  One class caught 71 fish. Most were small and had to be thrown back in. It’s not the size of the fish that’s exciting for the girls it’s the thrill of reeling them in. Today Head fishing instructor, Tony Duffeck, will be filleting up a keepers, breading them and serving them up for campers to try. Yum, yum!

All of us will be enjoying grilled cheese, tomato soup, pickles, apples and salad bar for lunch. After a morning of full activities everyone is hungry and waiting for the lunch bell to ring.
Our lovely PA’s (campers completing 9th grade) set out to explore the Porkie Mountains. They will be hiking, backpacking and canoeing as an age group overlooking beautiful Lake Superior.  This will be a new experience for most of them. They were anxious and excited as they loaded the vans around 10am this morning.

Outdoor cooking is making cheesy pizza today. Our arts and crafts campers are working on paper mache and crayon art.  Some of the creations are very inspiring and authentic.  Campers signed up for competition with Chippewa which will take place this Friday. We will compete against Camp Chippewa in tennis, soccer and basketball.

Tonight we will all enjoy lasagna and a fast pace game of gold rush.  It’s time to get outdoors and enjoy my campers.

Happy Camping,
